Waterperry Opera Festival is excited to announce its 2024 Winter Season.
We are taking our beloved Handel's Messiah concerts on tour this December, first to the beautiful period setting of The Holywell Music Room in Oxford, and then to the Georgian splendour of St Marylebone Parish Church in London. Now a Waterperry Opera Festival annual Christmas tradition, our Messiah concerts have delighted sold-out audiences since 2021. Exquisite festive evenings await you with an ensemble of renowned singers and period instrumentalists. Box Office Information Booking for the Holywell Music Room performance will open for Members with Priority Booking at 9am on the 19th September. General Booking opening at 9am on the 26th September. |

The Holywell Music Room, Oxford
The Holywell Music Room will host our first Messiah concert of the season.
The Holywell Music Room is close to the heart of many a concert-goer in Oxford. Designed by the Vice-Principal of St Edmund Hall, Thomas Caplin, the venue is thought to be the first custom-built concert hall in Europe. The venue first opened its doors in 1748 and continued to operate as a concert hall until 1836. The venue returned to its original use after its refitting in 1960 and has since held hundreds of recitals. Thought to be the brainchild of Prof. William Haynes, the hall has a beautiful acoustic for chamber music and boasts an exceptional history. |

St Marylebone Parish Church, London
We are thrilled to be returning to Marylebone Parish Church after a successful performance of Mansfield Park in July 2023. This performance will be accompanied by the Marylebone Parish Church Choir, made up of some of London’s finest professional singers and consists of 10 voices. St Marylebone Parish Church is a place of active and engaged Christian witness, set at the very heart of central London. With a history stretching back nearly 900 years, it has long been renowned for musical and liturgical excellence.
