Rebecca Anderson
Rebecca’s musical identity is much like that of her native Glasgow: boundary-pushing, a champion of marginalised voices, and a force to be reckoned with. She works across the UK as a freelance producer and mezzo-soprano having studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (MMus 2019-21 and PGDip 2022-23). Rebecca is a Project Manager with the National Youth Choir, predominantly working with their 18-25 and Emerging Professional Artists programmes managing many high-profile events including collaborations with 3Choirs Festival, BBC Proms, and a recent international tour to South Africa. She works across the industry to champion early-career artists, and facilitate easy access to the arts.
As a singer, Rebecca has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, has worked with Opera North as a Leverhulme Arts Scholar, and was recently awarded the Platinum Prize in the Saint-Saens International Music Competition. Opera credits have included previous seasons as Chorus with Buxton International Festival, Constance ‘Disorderly House’; Mary Ann ‘The Boatswain’s Mate’; Lady Bertram ‘Mansfield Park’; Minskwoman ‘Flight’; and Lapak ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’. Rebecca was part of the Waterperry Opera Festival Young Artist Programme in the summer of 2021 and is delighted to be returning in this capacity!
Before venturing into the arts full time, Rebecca studied geography and worked in meteorology. Something that might come in handy with our outdoors music festival!
