Waterperry Opera Festival’s Winter Festival takes place in two beautiful historic venues — Holywell Music Room, Oxford and St Marylebone Parish Church, London. Venue Details

  • The Holywell Music Room is the oldest purpose-built concert hall in Europe, renowned for its intimacy and exceptional acoustics.

  • A Grade I listed church in the heart of London, known for its striking architecture and rich musical history.

Getting to Holywell Music Room

Holywell Music Room, Holywell St, Oxford OX1 3SB

The Holywell Music Room is located in central Oxford, just a short walk from Broad Street and the Bodleian Library.

  • By train: Oxford Railway Station is a 20-minute walk or a short bus/taxi ride from the venue.

  • By bus/coach: Gloucester Green Bus Station is a 10-minute walk away. Coaches from London and other major cities stop here.

  • By car: Parking is limited in central Oxford. The nearest car parks are Gloucester Green (10 minutes’ walk) and Westgate (15 minutes’ walk).

Park & Ride: We strongly recommend using Oxford’s Park & Ride service. Frequent buses run into the city centre from five locations around Oxford, and drop-off points are a short walk from the Holywell Music Room.

Getting to St. Marylebone Parish Church

St Marylebone Parish Church, Marylebone Road, London NW1 5LT

The church is very well connected by public transport, situated just north of Oxford Street and Regent’s Park.

  • By Tube:

    • Baker Street (5 minutes’ walk)

    • Great Portland Street (7 minutes’ walk)

    • Regent’s Park (7 minutes’ walk)

    • Edgware Road, Oxford Circus, and Bond Street are also within walking distance.

  • By train: Marylebone Station (5 minutes’ walk), Euston and St Pancras (10–15 minutes by bus/taxi).

  • By bus: Routes 2, 18, 27, 30, 88, 205 stop nearby.

  • By taxi: Taxis and ride-hailing services can drop off directly outside the church.

  • By bicycle: Santander Cycles docking stations are nearby, with the closest on Beaumont Street (200m away).

Accessibility and Facilities

Holywell Music Room

The auditorium is historic with steeply raked seating. Patrons with mobility concerns are advised to book seats towards the front.

The venue is not fully wheelchair accessible. Please contact us in advance if you have access requirements, and we will do our best to assist.

St. Marylebone Parish Church

The church is wheelchair accessible, with a ramped entrance from Marylebone Road.

  • A lift provides access to the lower level.

  • A wheelchair-accessible toilet (with baby-changing facilities) is located on the lower level.

  • Assistance and service dogs are always welcome.
