‘It’s more like Glastonbury than Glyndebourne’: the festival bringing opera to a new generation26/4/2023 We’re thrilled that Guy Withers our CEO and Artistic Director has been featured in The Telegraph. In the piece Guy speaks of how the Festival was born, from our humble beginnings back in 2017, to now with our much more ambitious and groundbreaking festival programme and increasing audience numbers year on year. And of course, how this growth brings its own new challenges, particularly financial ones! In the article Guy also speaks about his, and our desire to bring Opera to new audiences, and our generous schemes to make tickets affordable to less traditional audiences. This year is no exception, in fact we’ve introduced a new under 35s ticket price to tempt younger audience members to experience our unique offering of opera, dance, music and theatre all set within the fantastic Waterperry estate grounds. That’s on top of our brand new Weekend Shuttle Bus which is running a service from Oxford Train Station to the festival, linking up our festival with the Oxfordshire Tube for audiences in London as well as locally. More about that below. Check out the article on The Telegraph to read more about Guy’s story and find out what the future holds for him and the festival! ‘It’s more like Glastonbury than Glyndebourne’: the festival bringing opera to a new generation
